LEARNING SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (CONSTRUCTION) - PS2811

Salary: £24,811 to £26,123
Contract Type: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Location: Paignton, Devon
Are you passionate about supporting learning in a hands-on, practical environment? Do you thrive in a role where no two days are the same? South Devon College is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Learning Support Technician (Construction) to join our dynamic and friendly team!
In this vital role, you’ll be at the heart of our construction workshops ensuring equipment is ready, safe, and available to support high-quality teaching and learning. You will work closely with staff and students, helping to create a clean, safe, and inspiring environment where learners can thrive.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Managing and maintaining tools, equipment, and resources across the workshops.
  • Supporting staff and students by preparing materials and ensuring everything is ready for practical sessions.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards are upheld at all times.
  • Assisting with the setup and dismantling of teaching materials, models, and projects.
  • Keeping accurate inventories and records of equipment and materials.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to students during practical activities.
  • Receiving and checking deliveries, ensuring quality and quantity meet expectations.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Advising on and helping to modify or construct bespoke equipment as needed.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with procurement processes.
  • Supporting other technician teams across the college when required.
  • Maintaining confidentiality, especially around assessments and examinations.
  • Taking initiative and working independently to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
