Overview:
The Leave of Absence (LOA) Administrator is a primary point of contact for facilitating leave administration for US and Canada employees. This role is part of the global benefits team and will work closely with internal resources and external vendors to ensure compliance with leave of absence and pay replacement processes both at a Federal and State level. The LOA Administrator is accountable for leave process oversight to ensure compliance, documentation, and a positive employee experience when the need for leave arises.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
  • 3 + years of related experience in Benefits or Human Resources
  • U.S. LOA administration experience is required
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements impacting absences – including disability and discrimination laws – and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and other government requirements and standards (FMLA, ADAAA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.)
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

Serving as the subject matter expert for administering the U.S. and Canada Leave of Absence programs and processes:

  • Works with Brightstar’s third-party Leave of Absence administrator for a strong working partnership
  • Helps to define service level agreements (SLAs) and holds vendor accountable for maintaining adherence
  • Central point of contact for employees to navigate leave of absence requirements, and maintains follow-up as necessary, whether leave is planned in advance or sudden onset
  • Coordinates pay with company-paid sick/ short term disability, state disability programs and other disability plans and works cross-functionally with Payroll to ensure employees are paid correctly and as timely as possible
  • Ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for Managers and HR People Partners to proactively educate and support them in the absence management and administration processes
  • Maintains accurate documentation of leave processes and for self-service support
  • Track leave utilization and prepare relevant reports demonstrating relative health of workforce
  • Stays abreast of changing landscape of various [state] leave laws and works to integrate them into current processes
  • Participates in ad-hoc projects as and when required
