Description
Founded in 1989, Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) is a modern, vibrant and dynamic university. We tailor our professional programmes to adapt to market trends and meet industry needs, thus providing our students with quality professional education and clear career paths. Being the first University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in Hong Kong, we pledge to play a pioneering role in enhancing recognition of vocational and professional education and training, and nurturing talents with both applied skills and knowledge. As a faculty-driven, student-centred university in support of innovative teaching and learning, strategic research, and stakeholder outreach to provide maximum benefit to our communities, we conduct research that advances knowledge and enhances teaching, focusing on strategic areas, including digital humanities and literature, international business, gerontechnology, personalised care, smart city, open and innovative education, and bilingual learning and teaching. HKMU is becoming an ever more vital link in addressing and helping Hong Kong to solve many difficult challenges – as part of our involvement in, and commitment to, the ‘metropolis’ of Hong Kong. Our plans to expand into the Greater Bay Area (GBA) will also cultivate talent to serve Hong Kong and the wider metropolitan GBA. For more information about the University, please visit https://www.hkmu.edu.hk. Li Ka Shing School of Professional & Continuing Education (LiPACE) As one of the eight schools of HKMU, LiPACE has a strong track record of serving diverse learner groups in Hong Kong. Established in 1992 as the Centre for Continuing and Community Education, the institution was elevated to an Institute in 2000 and officially named LiPACE. In January 2020, the University Council approved LiPACE’s normalization as a School, marking a major milestone in its development. As the designated professional and continuing education arm of the University, LiPACE is committed to providing high-quality learning opportunities with a primary focus on Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET). This distinctive role differentiates it from the other schools of the University, which primarily offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes through full-time and distance learning modes. LiPACE’s academic remit and community engagement activities are organized around four key programme areas: (1) Further Education, (2) Access Programmes, (3) Professional and Continuing Education and Corporate Training, and (4) Adult Education. Beyond these core areas, LiPACE actively promotes non-formal learning in the community through targeted projects. In fulfilling the University’s founding mission of “education for all,” LiPACE complements the broader academic offerings by covering a wide range of disciplines and study levels, while serving learners of diverse ages, nationalities, and occupations. We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the LiPACE: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Teaching Chinese Language and Chinese Culture courses at Sub-degree and Diploma levels; Undertaking programme/course planning, development, coordination and promotion of the academic programmes under purview with adherence to the School’s mechanism of quality assurance and registry procedures; Assisting instructors in course preparation and administration, conducting tutorials, grading assignments and tests, and invigilating examinations; Engaging in professional/scholarly activities; Participating in School/University activities and administration; and Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean (LiPACE) or his/her nominee(s).
