WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience as a maritime trainer or lecturer but the post would also be suitable if you are experienced working at sea as a deck officer and are enthusiastic about teaching and developing aspiring officers to help them achieve industry qualifications.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is excited to welcome an experienced and passionate Lecturer in Maritime Studies (Maternity Cover) to join our team at Fleetwood Nautical College. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the next generation of maritime professionals and contribute to a forward-thinking academic community.
This 12-month fixed-term post is ideal for either an experienced lecturer or a seagoing deck officer seeking a shoreside role. The position will run from August 2025 to July 2026 and will involve teaching subjects relevant to the Deck discipline, such as ship stability and navigation, to students across both Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) levels.

As a Lecturer in Maritime Studies, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning across a range of maritime programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
