SUMMARY OF POST

The School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, RCSI, wishes to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative individual to the role of Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence in Health. The purpose of the job is to deliver education and research that will have a lasting impact on health and care and research-led education and training. You will use and develop novel approaches to deliver on our education programmes in this area as well as developing research methodologies to improve healthcare by helping to understand, diagnose, monitor or treat disease and thus benefiting patients and the wider population through research translation, prevention, system performance and optimised care. It is expected that research will be internationally competitive, disseminated widely and will have significant impact in health fields globally. New funding will need to be sought to maintain and grow self-sustaining research. Applicants will also be expected to contribute to /undertake any associated management and administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS – (ESSENTIAL):

  • Has a PhD degree or equivalent in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related area

Knowledge & Experience – (Essential):

  • Has clear and demonstrable experience in the delivery of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of Artificial Intelligence in Health or closely aligned areas
  • Has a teaching related qualification (desired).
  • Has a sustained track record of both senior authorship of papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals and of securing competitive grant funding in areas related to Artificial Intelligence in Health
  • Has experience of supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research students
  • Can function effectively within a team, using clear and effective communication.
  • Requires minimum direction to effectively deliver on assigned functions, and demonstrates a positive, student–centred and solution focused approach to addressing challenges and ambiguity.
  • Has flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion.
