Job Description The Griffith School of Engineering and Built Environment (EBE) offers a broad range of programs in engineering, architecture, planning, and aviation. It has an active research culture that has helped foster strong links with high schools and community groups, as well as with key industries at the local, national, and global levels. The School is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) to support high-quality teaching and to undertake activities to maintain and develop research/scholarly/professional activities in the Aviation discipline. This teaching-focused position is expected to perform full academic responsibilities and related administration for the coordination of courses and programs. The School’s teaching activities are diverse: we deliver courses on campus and online. On campus, face-to-face teaching is required, and the work patterns for the position are expected to reflect the teaching requirements of the role. Teaching-focused Lecturers are principally engaged with a maximum 70% teaching profile, with the remaining work allocation assigned to research/scholarship and service, depending on the applicant's research track record. As a Lecturer in Aviation, you’ll contribute to the delivery and development of courses offered in the undergraduate and postgraduate Aviation programs. Areas within Aviation in which we are seeking to strengthen our teaching capacity include Flight Operations, Aerospace Systems, Safety Science, Human Performance, Aviation Management and Economics, and Research Design and Supervision. Future work allocations will be reviewed as needed in alignment with the operational and student-centred requirements of the School. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across the spectrum of the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate program suite, facilitating high-quality, student-centred learning activities. Support high-quality learning and teaching outcomes for students, evidenced by technology-enhanced learning, problem-oriented, authentic learning, and assessment practices. Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development and critical reflection informed by a range of evaluation approaches. Provide educational contributions through responsibility for academic courses, including undertaking responsibilities aligned with the role of course convenor. Contribute to the enhancement of the School/Discipline standing and reputation by promoting educational activities with external communities. Undertake research/scholarship that has the potential to achieve impact on policy and practice in the wider community. This is a fixed term (until 9 February 2027), Part time (70%) position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-campus University, you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples. Salary Range The full-time equivalent base salary will be Lecturer, Level B range $113,226 - $134,460 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $132,474 - $157,318 per annum. The salary will be pro-rata for part time hours. Qualifications The successful candidate will have: A PhD (or near completion) in the field of Aviation or a relevant discipline. Demonstrated evidence of achieving high-quality learning and teaching outcomes, including knowledge of current teaching and learning principles and practices. Previous experience in convening and teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in the fields of Aviation or related areas. Research interest in safety science, human factors, higher and vocational education and training, flight operations, aerospace engineering, air transport economics, and operations management.
