JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Lecturer to join our academic team. QUALIFICATIONS

  • A relevant degree or higher qualification in the subject area being taught.
  • Proven experience in teaching or lecturing at a higher education level is desirable.

  • Proficient IT skills for preparing educational materials and conducting online classes if necessary.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • be responsible for recording and reporting class attendance
  • Update student files on SYNPOSIS (college data system) when interventions and engagements with students taken place
  • Provide teaching and learning to students
  • Explain to students their assessments and what is required to complete them
  • Provide students with adequate support and guidance, giving them the opportunity to pass assessments
  • Ensure uploading to moodle by the student is done correctly
  • Identify ‘at risk’ students in week one and discuss with the Unit/module Lead and Programme Manager intervention strategics and record on SYNOPSIS. At risk includes poor attendance, non-submission, late submissions, behavioural issues, poor class contribution, concern during formative sessions and mitigating circumstances
  • Be responsible for ensuring their student complete units/modules. At the earliest stage of the delivery, week one and week two the tutor will provide a statement of assessment for each of their students on the unit. This is intended to identify individual learning needs and intervention strategies that support and encourages students to grow and succeed on the unit. The statements will be discussed with the Unit/module Lead and Programme Manager
  • Regularly peer assess other tutors and provide constructive feedback
  • Regularly undergo observation and peer assessment
  • Regularly liaise with the college to ensure all internal and external requirements are being met
  • Ad hoc duties as required
