Description

We are looking for a passionate Counselling Lecturer to join our Early Years, Education & Social Care Department.
The successful applicant will help to transform the lives of our students by teaching across our Counselling qualifications, predominantly at Level 2 & 3 and will have pastoral responsibility for a year group.
This is a part-time role, working 14 hours per week.
Interviews are planned to take place on Friday 5th September.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related subject.
  • Level 5 qualification in counselling
  • Be registered with a professional body in the UK, e.g. BCAP, CPCAB or the National Counselling Society
  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experienced in counselling and actively practising
  • A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Counselling Practice.
  • Experience in Good teaching/training.
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience in course leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
  • To assess the work and progress of all students and provide them with constructive and timely feedback.
  • To seek ways of improving student performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery, and obtaining and analysing feedback.
  • To develop and apply innovative approaches to improving the learning environment, teaching and/or assessment and feedback methods
  • Engage in professional development concerning teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence-informed approach, which utilises the outcomes of scholarship to enhance teaching practice.
  • To participate actively in curriculum development, and, where appropriate, in cross-college marketing activities.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
  • To devise individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • To be responsible to the Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance for all assigned classes.
  • To be responsible for the supervision and management of students on placements, off-site visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students’ learning, and to report accurately on the progress of both individuals and groups.
  • To proactively contribute to the success and vision of the department
  • To undertake programme leadership duties as specified by your line manager or the Head of Department
