Description

INTERVIEW : THURSDAY 10 JULY 2025

Birmingham City University is a vibrant and ambitious institution with a strong reputation in the field of Business and Management. This role sits in the Department of Management, Business and Marketing, as one of two departments within the Business School. As a full-service Business School, it is home to innovative and applied teaching, impactful research, and strong professional partnerships.
We offer several programmes, such as the BA Human Resource Management. We also deliver a vibrant postgraduate portfolio, notably MA International Human Resource Management. We are seeking a Lecturer in Human Resource Management who can contribute to the teaching across our portfolio, particularly for our Level 7 programme. The successful candidate will be able to use their understanding of HRM — as a practitioner or scholar — to enhance the learner experience.

The ideal candidate will either:

  • Have achieved a CIPD level 7 advanced diploma, a Master’s degree, and have significant and relevant industry experience in the field of HRM, or
  • Possess, or be nearing completion of, a PhD in HRM;

In addition, we would expect the successful candidate to:

  • Have experience in teaching, ideally in HE;
  • Be engaged in research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice to a level commensurate with teaching aspiring HRM professionals at level 7.

We welcome applications from individuals seeking either full-time or part-time roles.

Located in the centre of the UK’s second city, we are a university with a long heritage of innovation and of making, dating back to our origins in 1843 when we were founded as the Birmingham Government School of Design.
Our heritage of making through innovation and its application through knowledge exchange, and of creative research and practice, today finds it expression in our STEAM agenda, in our research and enterprise, and in our commitment to challenge-based learning.
