An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our supportive team at Hull University. We are looking for a new member of the team that will help to deliver our LLB degree in addition to our successful undergraduate and postgraduate Law provision. We have a team of academic, research and practice focused colleagues based in the Law School with expertise across the discipline in areas that you would expect in a 21st C Law school.
We are seeking to appoint a lecturer to play an important role in the teaching and scholarship in the law school and are looking for a candidate who has an interest in or experience in teaching Contract, Criminal law and Tort law. This role will be of interest to someone who may be looking to change careers coming from the legal services sector, if you have some practice experience that would also be of interest!
We work with a range of partners, across the University, and we have excellent links with local, regional, national and partners. These links present many exciting opportunities for applied knowledge exchange, research, and innovation. The successful candidate will be supported to produce high quality knowledge exchange, scholarship and engaging, innovative teaching.

Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST

Whilst we are looking for someone to teach on the LLB programme, foundation subjects and potentially across other areas within our curriculum. We also want to you consider how you can be part of our research community as well.
You should be willing to undertake administrative roles and actively contribute to the development of our Law skills portfolio. Over time we will expect you to become module leaders and to build your own teaching and scholarship practice. We will also look for you to undertake knowledge exchange activities and to seek to develop new links with local and national agencies and organisations to enhance our student experience.
You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. Formal teaching experience is preferred, though appointment without experience at HEI, would be at Band 7. Applicants who do not hold a teaching qualification would be expected to work towards one if successful.
Ideally, we would like to appoint someone who may have or be about to complete their PhD, Or have considerable teaching or practice experience in the areas identified and may be interested in pursuing PhD studies.
