Job Title: Lecturer in Trades
Location: North Harbour Campus, Portsmouth
Salary: Full Time Equivalent £29,074.42- £42,579.53 per annum
Job Type: Sessional/Casual
Hours of work: up to 35 hours per week (inclusive of teaching and prep time), up to 52 weeks per year

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Lecturer in Trades role involves planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality lessons, as well as assessing and supporting students in their learning journey. We can provide the necessary training and support for applicants. Areas include, but are not limited to Brickwork, Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Building Maintenance, Gas, Plastering, and Plumbing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To teach on a range of programmes, providing high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual students/apprentices and groups in line with the College’s strategic priorities and objectives.
  • To provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
  • Actively contributing to the development of new programmes within the curriculum area
  • Producing annual schemes of work and/or training plans for all subjects/programmes to be taught
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, relevant curriculum and programmes

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, BELOW IS WHAT WE WOULD NEED FROM YOU:

  • Level 5 Teaching Qualification ( or be prepared to work towards)
  • Evidence of commitment to professional development
  • A good standard of Maths and English
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a level 2/3 qualification in any of the following Trade area’s Brickwork, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, Building Maintenance, Gas, and Plastering.
  • Relevant industry experience in the following areas Brickwork, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, Building Maintenance, Gas, and Plastering.
