The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.
We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.
We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

What is the job role?
We are recruiting to a part-time Lecturer Level 1, 12-month fixed-term position as part of the Coventry Adult Education Service Life Skills area.
Life Skills offers a diverse range of engaging courses for young people and adults, designed to build confidence, support physical health and wellbeing, develop new skills, help gain qualifications and equip parents and carers to support their children’s learning. We place a strong emphasis on the First Step
provision, guiding learners towards further learning, volunteering opportunities, combined with a line of sight to work or employment.
The Level 1 tutor will predominantly be working in the Inclusive Learning, Engagement and Employability Skills Programme (ILEEP), delivering provision for adults 19 years +, who have learning disabilities and/or difficulties, and also teaching in the Community Programme for adults.
You will be required to deliver a range of non-accredited learning activities, to develop accredited provision where applicable. Delivery is face-to-face in a classroom, and also in outdoor settings. Predominantly based at Broad Street Centre, and also a range of Adult Education Service venues and community venues across the city.
The primary role will be working in ILEEP, where the successful candidate will be teaching learners a range of practical and creative activities with a focus on sustainability, conservation, horticulture and environmental studies.
