Lecturer Grade F: £40,497 to £45,413 per annum
Lecturer Grade G: £46,735 to £55,755 per annum
Senior Lecturer Grade H:£57,422 to £66,537 per annum

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• To provide high quality teaching in ethical design, construction and practice, learning and student support
• Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of personal tutor
• Set and mark the assessment of modules in accordance with University standards and utilise online and digitalised curricula and education frameworks
• Contribute to curriculum development
• Ensure all our students benefit from studying in a research intensive, research excellent academic environment

Research

• Experience of attracting and supervising PGR students
• Supervision of undergraduate and taught postgraduate students’ research projects
• Substantial experience of designing and delivering high quality teaching and learning material, resources and activities for students
• Ability to undertake a management and leadership role
• Experience co-designing professionally accredited programmes in Architecture
• Ability to take on a leading/coordinating role in teaching of ethical design, construction and practice within professionally accredited architecture programmes

Senior Lecturer Grade H

In addition to meeting the criteria for the Lecturer Grade F/G to be considered for a Grade H Senior Lectureship you must also meet the follow criteria:

• Evidence of experience of leading and delivering holistic, integrated programme-level design of learning, teaching and assessment strategies, to deliver learning opportunities that engage, challenge and inspire our students
• Evidence of a sustained international research and innovation profile and proven track record in international and world-leading publications
• Evidence of skills in organisation and leadership necessary for undertaking a management and leadership role in the School

QUALIFICATIONS

Lecturer Grade F

• A good Honours degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, or closely related discipline
• A good professional postgraduate degree in architecture (Desirable)
• PhD (or equivalent) at or near completion (strictly within three months of submission at time of application) in Architecture or closely-related discipline)
• A relevant Professional Registration as appropriate to the subject area (Desirable), particularly ARB or international equivalent
• HE teaching qualification (or equivalent experience) (Desirable)

Lecturer Grade G

In addition to meeting the criteria for the Lecturer Grade F candidates must also meet the following criteria:

• Completed PhD in Architecture or closely related discipline

Senior Lecturer Grade H

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (APL) at Newcastle University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Architecture: Ethical Design, Construction and Practice, on a teaching and research contract.
Newcastle University is part of the UK’s Russell Group of leading research-intensive universities. Architecture in Newcastle celebrated its centenary in 2022, and is currently ranked in the world’s top 100 architecture schools by QS. The successful applicant will contribute to the research profile of Architecture by publishing in internationally recognised journals, demonstrating research impact, and securing external research funding. Additionally, they will develop and deliver teaching and design studios in programmes accredited by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), ensuring an outstanding learning experience for our students.
