Job Description We are seeking candidates for the role of Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education (Communication Skills and Reflective Practice). The level of appointment will be dependant upon the education, clinical and professional qualifications of the successful candidate. Lecturer in Clinical Education (Level B) - The Lecturer in Clinical Education is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine. The expectation is that the Lecturer in Clinical Education will carry out independent and/or team research / scholarship and may supervise postgraduate research students. Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education (Level C) - The Senior Lecturer in Clinical Education is expected to make significant contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and play a major role in scholarship, research and/or professional activities. The Senior Lecturer is expected to make independent and original contributions to research which have significant impact on the field of expertise. This position offers a unique opportunity for a clinically qualified academic to establish a career in medical education. The role forms part of an academic team that oversees the learning and assessment of medical students and contributes to delivery of relevant aspects of the curriculum in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which encompasses communication skills and reflective practice, informed by contemplative pedagogy and contextualised to the practice of medicine. This position aims to ensure and verify that students in the MD acquire the understanding and skills related to communication skills and reflective practice required of an Australian medical graduate. It also contributes to curriculum development, delivery and assessment relevant to their area of expertise. This is a full-time, continuing position based at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University. The position is also available as part-time, as a job-share arrangement (e.g. 0.6/0.4 FTE or 0.5FTE x 2) to accommodate clinical commitments. While the position is primarily based at the Gold Coast, Griffith is a multi-campus institution and as such there may be an infrequent requirement for the successful candidate to travel to other sites/campuses where the medical program is delivered. Salary Range The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Lecturer (Level B) range $113,226 - $134,460 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $132,474 - $157,318 per annum. The full-time equivalent base salary will be Academic Senior Lecturer (Level C) range $138,702 - $159,936 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $162,281 - $187,125 per annum. Qualifications To be considered for this vacancy, candidates must: Level B Possess a medical degree from a recognised educational institution that is Ahpra registrable. Demonstrate expertise and experience in teaching and assessing communication skills and reflective practice in a medical program. Hold a doctoral or masters level qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing (e.g. MPH, PhD); and/or a Professional Fellowship (or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD or Fellowship) is desirable. Level C Possess a medical degree from a recognised educational institution that is Ahpra registrable. Hold a doctoral or masters level qualification of equivalent accreditation and standing (e.g. MPH, PhD); and/or a Professional Fellowship (or substantial progress towards completion of a PhD or Fellowship).
