THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity exists for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics within the Faculty of Business and Economics. The relevant fields of specialisation for this appointment are operations research, operations management, or a closely related discipline with strong computational and/or mathematical skills with expertise in one of the following areas: Supply chain analytics and logistics optimisation, data-driven optimisation and decision analytics, simulation and modelling of complex systems, business process improvement using data and analytics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting high-quality research and engaging in activities that enhance research impact. In addition to research, the role involves preparing and delivering lectures, workshops, seminars, etc., as part of the department’s business courses. The candidate will also contribute to the development of course materials, collaborating with senior staff to ensure content aligns with academic standards. Serving as a unit/subject coordinator, the individual will oversee the administration and coordination of specific units within the curriculum.
The role requires offering academic support and guidance to students through consultations and advising sessions. Additionally, the candidate will supervise the research projects of honours, master’s, or other postgraduate students engaged in coursework. A range of administrative duties related to the subjects taught will also be undertaken, ensuring smooth operation and compliance with institutional policies.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a doctoral qualification in operations research, operations management, business analytics, data science, machine learning, or a closely related discipline. You will have a proven track record of high-quality research and scholarly publications, along with demonstrated ability to deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and seminars, and to develop course materials and assessments.
You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, while also fostering strong working relationships. You will have experience working in interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with external organisations, including industry partners.
