Job Description We are seeking a qualified clinical educator to support the delivery of high-quality learning and teaching in our medical program. Our Lecturer (Teaching Focused) in Clinical Education will be expected to make informed contributions to the teaching effort of the School of Medicine and Dentistry and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, and/or professional activities relevant to the discipline of medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the full academic responsibilities and related administration in support of the development, coordination and delivery of courses in the Doctor of Medicine. Specifically, a primary focus will be on the development, delivery and assessment of safe, evidenced-based procedural skills for medical students. They will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical teaching to medical students with a focus on developing, teaching and assessing safe, evidenced based procedural skills. Clinical competencies must be taught at the standard required within the Queensland Health clinical environment; this role will need to liaise and partner with Nursing Education Leads at the facility to ensure standardisation and alignment is sustained over time. Examples of the core clinical competencies are below; however, this list is not exhaustive and may change over time to be responsive to curriculum requirements: Intravenous cannulation Venepuncture Aseptic, non-touch technique Wound care Surgical scrubbing, gowning and gloving Basic Life Support (desirable but not required, successful candidate complete BLS Assessor training supported by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service). The incumbent will support the School’s educational mission in relation to the medical program. They will contribute to the implementation of high-quality learning and assessment activities in the Doctor of Medicine program. They will also contribute to the broader mission of the School, through scholarly and service activities as negotiated with their Academic Supervisor. This is a continuing, part-time (0.2FTE/20%) and offered at our Sunshine Coast site, delivering learning & teaching activity at the Sunshine Coast Health Institute. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples. The Sunshine Coast site is located on the land of the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples. Salary Range The part-time equivalent base salary for a 20% FTE at the Academic Lecturer (Level B) ranges from $22,645 - $26,892 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total part-time package will range from $26,494 - $31,463 per annum. Qualifications We are seeking applications from candidates who possess the following skills and qualifications: Essential: A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent from a recognised tertiary educational institution; Ahpra registration; Experience in clinical teaching. Desirable: A relevant qualification (or progress towards) in clinical / health education or relevant field of study; including, Graduate Certification, Diploma in Clinical Teaching, Master’s degree, or PhD. In addition, you will have demonstrated ability to: Foster an understanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs facilitating high quality, student-centred learning activities.
