Department/ Unit: School of Governance and Policy Science Closing Date: Until the post is filled The School of Governance and Policy Science (SGPS) has been established under the Faculty of Social Science since 1 August 2024 and is dedicated to the science of governance and public policy. The School is inviting applications for the post of Lecturer for mainly teaching in the BSSc programme in Government and Public Administration, the MSSc programme in Government and Politics (Greater China) and/or the MSSc programme in Public Policy. Applications are welcome from both fresh PhD graduates and experienced academics who possess expertise in government and public administration, public policy and Greater China studies. Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; (ii) relevant teaching experience at the tertiary education (preferably University) level; (iii) demonstrated capability for high-quality teaching at the tertiary education (preferably University) level, including in taught postgraduate programmes and related Master’s level courses; (iv) strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship. The appointee is expected to (a) teach and manage undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to government and public administration, public policy and Greater China studies; (b) supervise students’ projects; (c) organize and engage in activities related to interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary teaching and research; and (d) undertake administrative duties as assigned. The appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2026, renewable subject to teaching needs, good performance and mutual agreement. Responsibilities
The appointee is expected to teach and manage undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to government, public administration, public policy, and Greater China studies, while also supervising student projects.
