Department/ Unit: Office of University General Education Closing date: March 15, 2026 The Office of University General Education (OUGE) oversees the offering of two courses of the University Core Requirements —"Understanding China" and "Hong Kong in the Wider Constitutional Order" under the General Education China Programme. We are interested in applicants who are trained in the discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences with a focus on China. Applicants with a background in economic development or international relations would be especially welcomed. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer. Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences and (ii) a strong commitment to teaching and the pursuit of knowledge. Research credentials on China-related topics, fieldwork experience in China, or experience teaching China studies would be an advantage. The appointee will teach courses offered by the General Education China Programme and other courses, particularly those related to China topics, for the University General Education programme. He/she will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and enhance teaching and learning of programmes. He/she will also support the organization of student enrichment activities and academic activities and participate in teaching projects. Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one to two years commencing August 2026 or January 2027, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. Responsibilities
