QUALIFICATIONS

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma from a recognized college preferred.
  • At least 5 plus years of experience as a legal administrative assistant with experience in Corporate practice areas.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Must possess an excellent financial acumen with strong analytical and organizational skills with an above average grasp of technology.
  • Open and willing to learn, understand new terminology, and develop new skills.
  • Well-organized with an outstanding work ethic and customer-oriented attitude.
  • Strong administrative, interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure, deal with changing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • High energy, flexible, and able to execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a good team player.
  • Proficient with software including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, InterAction and Expert Time).

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities in respect of the corporate law practice include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Takes instructions, prioritizes incoming work, follows through on assignments and manages ongoing tasks.
  • Prepares, drafts, and revises correspondence, agreements and other documents, and assists in preparing for closings.
  • Implements and maintains practice management systems for more than one professional and undertakes additional responsibilities as required within the share and team.
  • Prepares expenses, accounts, manages pre-bills and opens/closes files, with a strong working proficiency with all accounting and billing procedures.
  • Establishes effective filing and organization systems.
  • Liaises and builds relationships with both internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required

Additionally, responsibilities specifically pertaining to the energy regulatory practice include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Tracking the status and due dates for various regulatory proceedings.
  • Proofreading, formatting and electronic filing of regulatory submissions.
  • Maintaining circulation lists of participants in various proceedings and circulating filings and correspondence in the proceedings as applicable.
  • Compiling cost claims using prescribed on-line forms, including categorizing docket entries into cost categories and calculating cost award claim amounts in various categories.
  • Compiling monthly billing report packages including accrual and payment status charts for status reporting to clients.
  • Liaising with regulator staff in respect of filings and associated requirements.
