Description Supports the Director of Legal with legal matters such as commercial loan documentation, real estate transactions, collection and litigation issues, and other banking-related legal needs, including drafting legal documents. Assists with legal research, correspondence, file management, and communications with outside counsel, clients, and vendors. Plays a key role in organizing matters, tracking deadlines, and managing follow-ups to ensure timely completion of legal tasks, with strong attention to detail. Anticipates potential issues, resolves problems proactively, and helps streamline processes. Key Responsibilities: Drafts and processes legal documents, including commercial loan closings and real estate-related filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assists with litigation matters, including preparing pleadings, discovery, and related filings, and coordinating with outside counsel as needed. Communicate and coordinate with outside counsel, real estate brokers, title companies, and municipalities as needed. Tracks ongoing matters, deadlines, and follow-ups to maintain departmental organization and workflow. Prepare correspondence and sensitive materials with precision, timeliness, and discretion. Maintains both paper and electronic files, ensuring proper organization, accessibility, and accuracy. Supports daily operations of the Legal Department, including scheduling, calls and special projects. Conducts research and gathers information to assist in legal matters. Collaborates with other departments, including lending, compliance, and operations to support cross-functional initiatives and ensure seamless processes. Working Conditions: Office environment with occasional temperature variations. Ability to sit or stand, use computers and office equipment extensively, and handle routine physical activity associated with office work. Requirements Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience; paralegal program preferred. CLA or CP certification a plus. Minimum 10 years’ experience in corporate law, real estate law, collection litigation, and commercial loan documentation. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; detail-oriented and dependable. Proactive problem-solving skills, anticipating issues and streamlining processes. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively. Handles sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal document management. Capable of traveling to Court and Bank locations as needed.
