Job Overview

The key responsibility of this role is to provide support to our existing Family Law Team in our Ilkeston Office.
Specifically in this instance we are a looking for someone with extensive family law experience to support our Family Law team in their day to day activities. This role will be varied and will involve providing support of all types with our expanding Family Team. This role may fit someone already working as a paralegal but also someone working within a family law team, seeking extra responsibility.

Responsibilities

The actual work undertaken varies depending on previous and ongoing experience gained. This will be reflected in the instruction from your Line Manager. In general, however, the main responsibilities can include:

  • Production of letters and legal documents such as wills, contracts and court papers
  • Working from verbal instruction and notes
  • Answering telephone calls in a professional manner
  • Dealing with enquiries from clients, other professional advisors and opposing solicitors via email, fax and letter
  • General file and record management i.e. file opening, client identification, document storage, file archiving
  • Making appointment and diary management via both paper and electronic systems
  • Preparing court forms and statements
  • Keeping records of costs
  • Delivering and collecting documents
  • File ledger management i.e. invoices, completion statements, notification of funds receipts, disbursement payments
  • Copying, scanning and faxing, including preparation of large files,
  • Undertake any other duties as directed by the Director(s) / Senior Solicitors which are consummate with the job holders grade and experience
  • Assisting the Head of Department, Solicitors and trainees as appropriate
  • Make a positive contribution towards departmental business growth
  • Supporting all colleagues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5x GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths
  • Appropriate family law experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent keyboard skills
  • Knowledge of the Legal duties and responsibilities helpful
  • Experience of working in a client facing environment
  • Excellent telephone answering skills
  • Previously worked in a legal firm
  • Previous knowledge of working with case management software Str(helpful but not essential)
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent organisational abilities
  • Good communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £24,000.00 per year

Additional pay:

  • Yearly bonus
