WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

We are looking for an experienced Legal Administrative Support Secretary or Legal Assistant looking for their next role. You should demonstrate an interest for working within a Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury department and will ideally have previous experience of working in a role that has had to deal with medical records and chronologies. We will consider candidates with PI experience.

WHAT SKILLS SHOULD I HAVE?

  • Conscientious and meticulous with great attention to detail
  • Strong IT skills, particularly experience with having used customer/client databases and MS packages such as Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

Your primary role as a Legal Assistant, working within our Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury Team, will be to assist the lawyers with progressing their cases, which will include the following day to day tasks:

  • Assisting with Access Requests for medical records and associated follow up
  • Sorting medical records to produce relevant chronologies
  • Obtaining additional or missing records or information
  • Paginating medical records
  • Collating documents to accompany instructions to experts/counsel
  • Researching/approaching medical experts
  • Liaising with clients over the phone or by email
  • Liaising with the Court and other third parties over the phone or by email
  • Liaising with Defendant representatives over the phone or by email
  • Drafting letters/documents
  • Drafting witness statements
  • Arranging appointments and conferences
  • Opening files and drafting new client packs
  • Insuring cases
  • Assisting with taking new claims enquiries and obtaining all relevant information when required
  • Updating internal systems
  • Assisting Fee Earners and carrying out other ad hoc tasks that assist the team
  • Maintaining compliance in accordance with internal policies and GDPR
