Roach on May 17, 1993, the firm continues to grow. Job Description Successful law firm seeks a full-time Legal Assistant for our Overland Park, Kansas location. Candidate must possess excellent organizational skills and have comprehensive experience with the legal profession. This position requires a highly motivated, organized professional capable of functioning in a fast-paced, challenging legal environment. Position Summary: The Legal Assistant enhances attorneys’ effectiveness in handling cases, communication with clients, and obtaining needed evidence for available defenses; monitoring case development and deadlines; and supporting attorney's trial and deposition settings. This position will support two attorneys with the preparation of documents for worker’s comp defense and general liability cases. Essential Job Functions: Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software (PerfectLaw). Communicate effectively with clients, adjusters, attorneys, court personnel, judges, etc. Perform clerical duties such as saving emails, answering phones, invoicing, composing correspondence, processing mail, scanning documents, etc. Organize medical records and schedule medical appointments including IME appointments. Schedule and maintain electronic docketing of deadlines, depositions, hearings, etc. Make sure electronic and physical filing for every attorney is completed and up to date. Prepare status emails and correspondence. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience supporting attorneys in a legal office setting required. Experience with dictation required. Experience supporting attorneys in a workers’ compensation firm preferred. Experience with electronic filing for workers’ compensation and general liability preferred. Working knowledge of court rules and procedures. Microsoft Outlook and Word experience required; Excel, PowerPoint and Teams experience preferred. Proficiency with case management software, preferably PerfectLaw. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. Excellent telephone, writing, and proofreading skills. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently.
