Our client is a dynamic boutique law firm specializing in immigration law. They are looking for a highly detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of legal experience with a proven record of accuracy, organization and follow-through. As a key member in the office, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to support clients and deliver top-quality legal services.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in a legal assistant or legal support role. Immigration experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and strong follow-through.
  • Legal Assistant Diploma from an accredited college or institution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Proven problem-solving and team collaboration skills.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Adobe PDF.
  • Experience with IRCC portals is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of immigration applications, including family class applications, work permits, economic immigration, and refugee claims, ensuring complete, accurate, and timely filings.
  • Set up and maintain efficient records management systems to ensure seamless file organization.
  • Draft letters, memos and other documents from dictation and templates ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Manage client files, including opening, closing, and preparing engagement letters.
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and ensure timely and accurate updates.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure invoices are paid on time and follow up when necessary.
  • Work independently while managing tasks under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Prepare court documents for Federal Court and the Immigration and Refugee Board.
