JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Practice Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to attorneys within the Labor & Employment practice group at a regional law firm. This role is essential to ensuring seamless case management, accurate document preparation, and efficient workflow across multiple matters. The successful candidate will play a key role in drafting and filing documents, managing litigation deadlines, and supporting attorneys with day-to-day case and client needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation or labor and employment law support.
  • Prior experience with legal document management systems (e.g., NetDocs) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local court rules and e-filing procedures.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime to meet filing deadlines or urgent case needs.

Responsibilities
  • Draft, proofread, format, and edit legal documents including correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, discovery, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and file court documents in compliance with federal, state, and local rules, as well as administrative agency procedures.
  • Create, index, and maintain organized pleading and exhibit binders.
  • Track litigation deadlines and coordinate timely filings and case-related tasks.
  • Manage client intake in accordance with firm onboarding procedures.
  • Maintain both electronic and paper case files following document management and retention policies.
  • Coordinate and manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Assist with the billing process, including entering attorney billable time and reviewing invoices.
  • Arrange attorney travel and prepare expense and reimbursement reports.
  • Utilize legal software applications and document management systems to streamline workflow and ensure quality output.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other practice assistants across the firm to provide high-level administrative support.
  • Stay up to date with practice-specific rules, procedures, and filing requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, colleagues, and opposing counsel as directed.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards and firm policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
