We are hiring a Legal Assistant, Legal!
Reporting To: Assistant Vice President, Legal
Full-Time/Part- Time: Contract (6 months)

THE EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS YOU NEED:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with above-average spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Self-motivating work ethic, an interest in continuous learning and a positive attitude.
  • Professional mannerisms, with excellent judgement and discretion.
  • Robust organizational skills, showing attention to details and deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize among multiple assignments and several work providers.
  • Aptitude for problem solving and grasping new skills quickly.
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (MSWord, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Reader and manipulation of PDF documents.
  • Experience with OpenText eDocs (document management system), Diligent (board books) and Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker (e-billing system) would be an asset.
  • Completed post-secondary education and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of experience acquired in a law firm or inhouse legal department.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting with preparation, revision and proofreading of correspondence and legal documents.
  • Profiling and saving correspondence and documents into a document management system.
  • Implementing version controls, tracking changes and comparing versions.
  • Setting up and organizing files; maintaining legal department records.
  • Tracking and bringing-forward calendar items, deadlines and milestone dates.
  • Scheduling and organizing meetings.
  • Processing payment of invoices and accounts.
  • Providing administrative and clerical support to lawyers and law clerks, as assigned.
  • Adhere to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are met, when applicable
