Soloway Wright LLP is currently looking for a Legal Assistant (Litigation) with three to seven years of experience to work out of our Ottawa office, providing support to three lawyers.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in executive administration or as a law clerk.
  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of ACL5, Primafact, and NetDocuments, an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional presentation.
  • Experience preparing and editing correspondence.
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize job tasks in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to respond effectively and professionally to changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to ensure consistent attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • A positive, supportive and professional attitude.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting correspondence and legal documentation including editing and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate external and internal communication including mail, e-mail, fax and telephone calls.
  • Address client inquiries and schedule appointments.
  • Maintain client files.
  • Prepare client files for closure and storage.
  • Preparation of accounts.
  • Preparation of mail and courier packages.
  • Coordinate and organize meetings, conference calls and maintain agendas.
  • Coordination of examinations for discovery and mediations (including bookings with Court Reporters/Mediators).
  • Coordinate travel arrangements.
