THE EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant/Secretary/Paralegal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external clients
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in abuse law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law.
Due to the nature of the practice, there will be exposure to challenging material, consequently all staff in the practice are supported through access to external psychological support as well as market leading and award winning internal vicarious trauma training.
This role represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring Legal Assistant to join a supportive and well-respected team and law firm. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer all incoming client enquiries and assist or transfer calls where appropriate
  • Provide accurate updates and information to clients within a timely manner and manage expectations
  • Manage the administration of all client files from open to close
  • Produce client correspondence and prepare court documents as requested
  • Arrange and manage diaries, appointments and meetings
  • Action all incoming mail
  • Any other generalist administrative tasks as requested
