Description

Sorensen Truong LLP is a growing law firm with offices in Chilliwack and Langley. We offer a professional and collaborative work environment, competitive salary, and meaningful opportunities for growth and development.
We are currently seeking a full-time, in-office Paralegal or Legal Assistant to support one of our lawyers in a solicitor-style practice. While the position is primarily based in-office, there may be limited flexibility for remote work as appropriate.
Experience with conveyancing, corporate transactions, lending, and wills and estates matters is strongly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Legal Assistant Certificate or Paralegal Certificate
  • Experience in a solicitor-style practice
  • Strong knowledge of real estate, corporate, and estate procedures in British Columbia
  • Familiarity with BC Land Title filings and corporate registries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and legal practice software (experience with Clio is an asset)
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Responsibilities
  • Corporate Records and Transactions: Prepare and file corporate documentation, including incorporations, annual maintenance filings, corporate reorganizations, and business transaction documents such as shareholder and partnership agreements.
  • Real Estate Transactions: Assist with residential and commercial real estate matters, including preparing and filing Land Title Office forms, reviewing contracts, coordinating closings, and liaising with lenders, clients, and realtors. This role would suit someone with existing conveyancing experience or someone keen to develop skills in this area.
  • Wills and Estates: Support the preparation of estate planning and estate administration documents, including wills, powers of attorney, representation agreements, and probate applications. Assist with corresponding with clients and managing timelines for estate-related filings.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting title and corporate searches, organizing transaction documents, and assisting with due diligence
  • Managing file workflows from intake to completion, including file opening, correspondence, scheduling, and closing tasks
  • Communicating with clients and coordinating with professionals such as notaries, accountants, and financial institutions
  • Monitoring deadlines and maintaining bring-forward systems
  • Assisting junior staff or lawyers with related tasks as needed
