REQUIREMENTS FOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

  • Proven administrative experience in a legal setting is preferred; clerical experience will also be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

DUTIES OF LEGAL ASSISTANT

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers and paralegals, including managing schedules and coordinating meetings.
  • Perform data entry and maintain organized filing systems for case files and documents.
  • Assist in project management by tracking deadlines and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Utilize Esilaw (now called Unity Accounting) for managing client files.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe for document management and collaboration within the team.
  • Maintain professional phone etiquette while communicating with clients, courts, and all others.
  • Support clerical functions such as scanning, copying, and faxing documents as needed.

DUTIES OF PARALEGAL

  • Conduct thorough research on legal precedents and case law using tools such as LexisNexis.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe for document management and collaboration within the team.
  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence with attention to detail.
  • Conduct interviews with clients and witnesses, documenting information accurately.
  • Proofread legal documents for clarity, accuracy, and compliance with legal standards.
  • Support clerical functions such as scanning, copying, and faxing documents as needed.
