Description The Legal Assistant/Paralegal supports attorneys through drafting pleadings, discovery documents, motions, and correspondence, as well as organizing case files, conducting legal research, and preparing materials for mediation, trial, and appeals. This role requires strong multitasking skills, experience serving legal documents, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and legal research tools. Primary Job Duties: Drafting legal memoranda including pleadings, discovery demands and responses, subpoenas, correspondence and discovery motions Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data Assist with preparing attorneys for mediation and trial Conduct case law research using Lexis and public access websites to assist with strategies for defense Prepare Answers and correspondence Prepare Table of Contents and Table of Authorities for Appellate Briefs Prepare Affidavit of Service and facilitate outgoing documents to the Court and to adversaries Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time Key Competencies: Communicating - Legal Professionals provide the information required by others in a concise, direct, and unambiguous way. Requirements Minimum of 2 - 3 years' legal experience Experience in preparing and serving documents, typing from dictation Must be able to handle some paralegal and legal secretary duties Proficiency in Adobe and Microsoft Office applications especially Outlook and Word Must have ability to multi-task and meet deadlines Familiarity with Aderant Total Office (ATO), Lexis Advance and/or PcLaw
