REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office setting.
  • Experience in family law (including litigation) and wills and estates.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Proficiency with legal technology (LEAP experience an asset).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Attention to detail for document review, proofreading, and case management.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Post-secondary education in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide executive administrative support to lawyers, including calendar management, scheduling, and coordinating meetings.
  • Draft, proofread, and review legal documents and correspondence for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with case preparation.
  • Manage case files using document management systems such as LEAP.
  • Support litigation by preparing hearing/trial binders and managing discovery documents.
  • Assist with client communication, including interviews and updates.
  • Organize and maintain filing systems for legal documents and case files.
  • Perform accurate data entry while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
