JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Legal Assistant / Post Completions Clerk with a keen interest in property law or a willingness to develop expertise in the legal processes involved in the purchase and sale of property.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong administrative skill set and a foundational understanding of secretarial procedures within a legal environment. While prior experience is advantageous, it is not essential. We are particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate a high level of efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information clearly and appropriately to clients.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting senior solicitors with administrative tasks related to property transactions, including legal documentation, financial matters, and contracts.
  • Ensuring all post-completion tasks are carried out promptly and accurately following property transactions.
  • Submitting SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax) returns to HMRC and ensuring timely payment.
  • Registering completed transactions with HM Land Registry and monitoring progress through to final registration.
  • Liaising with clients, mortgage lenders, and third parties to resolve post-completion queries.
  • Reviewing Land Registry documents to ensure accuracy before submission
  • Managing requisitions from the Land Registry and ensuring they are responded to within specified timeframes.
  • Filing and archiving completed files in accordance with firm and regulatory procedures.
  • Conducting legal research and drafting various documents.
  • Liaising with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Managing time effectively to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Contributing positively as part of a collaborative legal team.
