OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a skilled Legal Assistant to join a dynamic litigation team - The role primarily involves supporting cases before federal administrative bodies, including the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), as well as federal courts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably at a small to medium-sized law firm.
  • Hands-on experience with e-filing, proofreading, and case management, including proper filing and docket tracking.
  • Strong reading and editing skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Comfortable managing multiple email inboxes and communications efficiently.
  • Familiarity with civil litigation and federal court procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with federal administrative agencies such as the MSPB is a significant advantage.
  • Proficient in legal research databases including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Experience using document management systems like NetDocuments is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and format legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery responses in compliance with MSPB and federal court requirements.
  • Provide comprehensive litigation support including organizing case files, preparing exhibits, coordinating witnesses, and assisting during hearings and depositions.
  • Monitor case deadlines, maintain accurate case files, and ensure timely submission of filings.
  • Assist attorneys with case management, fact gathering, and client communications while upholding strict confidentiality.
  • Conduct legal research using platforms like LexisNexis and Westlaw, and prepare summary memos as requested.
