For graduates this position will include a career progression opportunity where the individual can become a paralegal/legal assistant via the CILEX qualification route.

Responsibilities

The legal and information governance service has been operating a shared service arrangement across three district councils for eight years providing innovative and solutions focused service to the three councils to benefit their communities.
The legal and information governance service provides high quality legal advice across several areas of law to include commercial, property, planning, litigation and licensing. The service also supports the administration framework alongside the governance service ensuring that the council’s dealings are lawful, and decisions are taken correctly.
Within this role you will provide support for the Business Partner and Lawyers within the commercial team in relation to non-complex/lower value and complex commercial matters. With training and support you will be expected to manage your own caseload and maintain specialist knowledge and practice. You will carry out legal research, analyse and draft documents and prepare and collate documents.
This role will help you develop your practical, problem solving and interpersonal skills as well as your technical knowledge and expertise.
