MISSION OF THE POSITION

We are seeking a Legal Associate to join our team . Preferably based in Hamburg, the role will focus primarily on Germany while supporting cross-border legal matters across Europe. The Legal Associate will provide legal guidance on renewable project development, land acquisition, regulatory compliance, stakeholder negotiations, contract management, and participation in M&A and joint venture processes. This position will report directly to the Legal Counsel in Austria.

KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCES

  • Formal qualification in law (academic or vocational) in Germany or another European jurisdiction.
  • 4–6 years of professional experience in an in-house role or law firm, preferably within renewable energy; candidates with general energy, real estate, or corporate/transactional experience will also be considered
  • Fluent in German and English; additional languages are a plus
  • Experience in cross-border legal contexts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and solution-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a small, dynamic team
  • Candidates based in Hamburg or willing to relocate will be prioritized
Responsibilities
  • Support renewable project development teams with legal advice and documentation
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including land agreements and partnership contracts
  • Address regulatory and compliance matters related to renewable energy projects
  • Contribute to M&A and joint venture processes, providing transactional support
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders across Europe
  • Conduct legal research and provide solutions to complex legal issues
  • Organize contract management processes
  • Maintain flexibility to handle tasks beyond standard responsibilities in a small, boutique team
