POSITION SUMMARY:

Our growing law firm is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal billing practices, particularly in the insurance sector, and experience working within a small to midsize firm environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 6 years of experience in legal billing, specifically in insurance defense and/or coverage practice areas
• Experience working in a small to midsize law firm environment
• Proficiency with legal billing software
• Thorough understanding of insurance defense billing guidelines and requirements
• Experience with e-billing platforms commonly used by insurance carriers
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in legal billing for insurance defense matters
• Experience with trust accounting
• Knowledge of LEDES billing format
• Familiarity with multiple e-billing platforms
• Background in accounting or bookkeeping
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis
• Understanding of ABA billing codes

• Manage the full billing cycle for attorneys specializing in insurance defense and coverage matters
• Produce monthly WIPs on a predetermined schedule
• Edit monthly WIPs in coordination with billing attorneys
• Convert WIPs to invoices
• Ensure compliance with client billing guidelines, including insurance panel counsel requirements
• Process electronic billing through various e-billing platforms (CounselLink, Collaborati, Legal Tracker, etc.)
• Resolve billing inquiries and disputes with clients and insurance companies
• Track and report on billable hours, collection rates, and other key financial metrics
• Assist with accounts receivable management and collections
• Coordinate with attorneys to ensure timely submission of billable hours
• Maintain accurate billing records and documentation
• Supervise billing specialists
