LEGAL BILLING SPECIALIST - HYBRID

Our established law firm located in downtown Cleveland is seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join our team in a hybrid role, offering a mix of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.
This role is ideal for a legal billing professional who is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in managing complex billing cycles in a law firm setting. You’ll work closely with attorneys, clients, and administrative staff to ensure accurate, timely billing and exceptional client service.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of billing and client account management experience in a law firm
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Aderant software is preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the full billing lifecycle for assigned client accounts, including reviewing and editing prebills, finalizing invoices, and submitting them in the appropriate format
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to ensure accurate billing and timely submission
  • Coordinate and manage electronic billing submissions, monitor acceptance, troubleshoot errors, and ensure compliance with client-specific guidelines
  • Track billing rates, alternative fee arrangements, disbursements, and write-offs while monitoring progress against budgets
  • Maintain accurate records of unbilled amounts, trust account balances, unapplied payments, and billing history
  • Respond to billing inquiries and provide reports and analysis as needed for clients or attorneys
  • Communicate with clients on billing matters when necessary

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Perform additional accounting or billing functions as assigned
