Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Legal Counsel, you play a key role in supporting Riverty’ s business and the entire company in various legal affairs. The entire Riverty legal community consists of about 25+ lawyers with whom you will have a lot of regular interactions. The daily work will also entail close contact with other functions such as Product, Sales, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Operations. Riverty’ s organizational culture is international and low-hierarchical, prioritizing cooperation and open interaction between the teams, fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
You will join our team of lawyers from Germany, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands and report to our General Counsel for Invoicing & Payment. Your primary responsibility will be to support our business in Germany, a role that is crucial to our operations in these regions.

WHAT WILL HELP YOU TO SUCCEED IN THE ROLE:

  • An academic Master’s degree in law with 2-4 years of hands-on experience with German law.
  • Experience within German financial topics and must have experience in with contract drafting in German.
  • Excellent communication skills, legal and advisory skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Ability to work independently, able to handle a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Goal- and result-oriented mindset with a risk based approach.
  • Fluent in German and English.

In this role, you will be involved in drafting, reviewing client contracts, supplier agreements and other relevant internal and external contracts. Daily, your tasks will also include the following:

  • Provide legal support, advice on a wide variety of topics, particularly in consumer law, business law, and contract law
  • Give support to a wide range of internal stakeholders and act as sparring partner to the international Legal team.
  • Advice the organization on possible legal impact in case of legislative changes or changes to the business model.
  • Represent the organization in matters involving supervisory authorities
