Job title: Legal Counsel
Location: Rochester
Salary: £85,000+ depending on experience with 12.5% bonus plus £550 car allowance per month

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Essential:

  • Extensive understanding of commercial legal and business practice ideally in a range of international markets
  • Expert understanding of contract law, public procurement, anti-bribery and corruption, intellectual property and data protection
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales with good graduate qualifications and significant experience in a law firm/appropriate in-house experience

Desirable:

  • Experience of concluding major transactions in an international environment
Responsibilities
  • Provide generalist English law advice to the relevant Line of Business, Function and/or Head Office Department
  • Advising on contract matters, including with customers and suppliers as well as collaboration agreements, non disclosure agreements and other agreement areas and legal policy issues, including on compliance
  • Supporting broader legal issues arising within the business, and where necessary liaising with specialist lawyers, for example on intellectual property, data privacy and dispute resolution matters
  • Help ensure compliance and risk mitigation directly and through the provision of appropriate assistance to the Compliance team with all applicable legal requirements including: health and safety; procurement law; UK, US and international export controls; anti-bribery and corruption controls; trade controls; and ethical business conduct as each applies to the Rochester Business Centre (RBC) and the RBC product portfolio
  • Manage the provision of external legal support to the business to deliver the highest quality of legal advice in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Contribute fully as a member of the Electronic Systems and global legal community and leverage/share knowledge and capability accordingly including effective collaboration across the function and business to help deliver strategy
