Legal Counsel is a key business partner of the senior management of assigned European countries, that include Italy and Eastern Europe and may be extended from time to time. Legal Counsel is also supporting on a day-to-day basis the Mirandola production plant, in particular the procurement functions. Also, Legal Counsel is expected to play a significant role as a team member of the LivaNova Legal, Ethics & Integrity and Intellectual Property function, supporting global team-wide projects that may be assigned from time to time.

Primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Proactively support and implement senior management commercial strategies in assigned geographical areas and partner with all functions involved
  • Work as a trusted advisor to internal business clients, capable of identifying business risks and opportunities and suggesting practical, timely and goal- oriented solutions
  • Provide local management with assistance in negotiation and drafting of agreements of all kinds (including sales, purchase, consultancy, licensing, and services agreements), advise on termination/settlement options, lead commercial litigation strategy, advise on public tender laws and procedures
  • Provide both strategic and day by day legal support to LivaNova manufacturing site in Mirandola, Italy, partnering with local functions, including Procurement and Operations
  • Advise HR function in Italy on legal aspects of employees management and collective procedures
  • Interface with Compliance and Privacy team members, supporting the alignment with corporate policies, values and pillars
  • Manage external legal counsels in assigned geographical areas, securing best value for the company

Experience and Skills required

  • 2-4 years of work experience in in-house role (preferred) or in corporate/commercial department of an international and reputable law firm. Previous experience in the healthcare industry will be considered a plus.
  • Italian law degree and bar admission
  • Experience with corporate, commercial and business law, transactional practices, contract drafting/reviewing/negotiating.
  • Client-focused attitude, strong business acumen and ability to partner with commercial management to achieve growth and profitability goals
  • Highly motivated, independent, pragmatic, hard working and team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize assignments
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytic skills and attention to details
  • Strong work ethic, ability to self-motivation, accountability,
  • Excellent level of written and spoken Italian and English. Other European languages a plus.

Location: Milan (Italy) with availability to travel on request
