The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative, and dedicated team members and leaders.
The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes.
The Office of CEO- Legal team is looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel who will represent the FNHA in all legal matters including supporting the Legal team in file management and serving as the legal advisor to the executive team.
Title: Legal Counsel III
Salary: $122,641 - $144,283 - $165,926 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours Monday- Friday (core hours- 9:00 am- 3:00 pm)
Location: Coast Salish Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations- Metro Vancouver: Park Royal Office, Minimum 3 days in the office.
Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Summer 2026.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in law from a Canadian university
  • A minimum of 7 years of call to bar.
  • A degree in Political Science, Public, Health or Business Administration or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience working with First Nations leadership and communities.
  • Experience with Healthcare and or Healthcare related legal advising, is considered an asset
  • Substantial knowledge of and demonstrated familiarity with the legislative and regulatory framework governing healthcare

Responsibilities:

As Legal Counsel, you will provide senior-level legal support, identify complex issues and provide advice on a comprehensive range of issues and business transactions. You will provide senior-level expertise in drafting and interpreting policies, contracts and agreements. Additionally, you will provide regular guidance and support to more junior members of the legal team.
