The Legal, Privacy and Governance Office team is looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel who will represent the FNHA in all legal matters including supporting the Legal team in file management and serving as the legal advisor to the executive team.
Title: Legal Counsel III
Salary: $125,708 - $147,891- $170,075 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours Monday- Friday (core hours- 9:00 am- 3:00 pm)
Location: Coast Salish Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations- Metro Vancouver: Park Royal Office, Minimum 3 days in the office. (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy).
Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Spring 2027.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Law (i.e.: LLB) or Juris Doctor (i.e.: JD) from a recognized Canadian law school.
  • A minimum of 7 years of recent experience in the practice of law.
  • A degree in Political Science, Public, Health or Business Administration or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience working with First Nations leadership and communities.
  • Experience with in-house healthcare and or Healthcare related legal advising, is considered an asset
  • Substantial knowledge of and demonstrated familiarity with the legislative and regulatory framework governing healthcare

Responsibilities

As Legal Counsel, you will provide senior-level legal support, identify complex issues and provide advice on a comprehensive range of issues and business transactions. You will provide senior-level expertise in drafting and interpreting policies, contracts and agreements. Additionally, you will provide regular guidance and support to more junior members of the legal team.
