We’re looking for someone who has the following abilities and skills:

  • JD in law, preferably already qualified lawyer;
  • Proven professional experience in Legal & Compliance, preferably within the insurance sector;
  • Fluent in English and Italian (both written and spoken);
  • Excellent communication skills, commercial acumen and the ability to explain and present complex issues clearly and efficiently to underwriters, managers and senior executives;
  • Proven ability in identifying and analysing problems, creating solutions, deploying sound decision making skills;
  • Solution-oriented and able to manage and effectively prioritize very different tasks at once;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills – able to manage a number of projects and different demands simultaneously; and
  • Eager to work as part of a truly international team which also requires integrity, resilience, flexibility, and effective social and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Dealing with day-to-day requests for legal advice coming from local management (esp. Country Management and Underwriting Teams) and from Colleagues of the network based abroad interested in pursuing business opportunities in Italy (in relation to, e.g.: insurance policy design, pre-contract information documents, product development, reinsurance agreements, outsourcing, broker agreements, agency agreements, tenders, consultancy agreements, confidentiality agreements, lender clauses);
  • Supporting central compliance Teams;
  • Actively attending local management committees (e.g. Risk and Internal Control meetings);
  • Handling multinational programs contractual matters (including co-reinsurance and captive agreements);
  • Leading on implementing compliance projects;
  • Leading on cross-jurisdictional projects;
  • Preparing and providing trainings, on legal and compliance matters to the Branch’s Staff;
  • Coordinating complaints handling;
  • Dealing with compliance and regulatory related matters in relation to supervisory requirements imposed by IVASS – with a specific focus on complaints handling, and other foreign regulators relevant to the Group’s operations;
  • Liaising directly with competent authorities and industry’s associations and relevant filings;
  • Keeping an eye on relevant legal and regulatory developments, with a specific focus on insurance and insurance mediation rules, contract law, tort law, antitrust law, and others that may be relevant to the company’s, and their clients’ business;
  • Coordinating activities provided by external counsels; and
  • Coordinating projects with other Group companies
