Description
Apave Cameroon is currently recruiting on behalf of CAMALCO CAMEROON S.A., a subsidiary of a major multinational corporation. Based in the Adamawa Region, this large-scale mining project is dedicated to the responsible and sustainable development of bauxite resources. This strategic project is set to drive local industrialization, job creation, and community development. Mission The Legal Counsel will be responsible for ensuring the legal security of the company’s operations. This role involves advising management, ensuring full regulatory compliance, anticipating legal risks, and contributing to sustainable governance. Main Responsibilities Advise the CEO on strategic and operational legal matters. Draft, review, and negotiate key contracts, including EPC, mining, transport, and community agreements. Monitor and interpret laws regarding mining, business, labor, environmental, tax, and procurement. Handle corporate legal secretariat and all governance obligations. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and permitting requirements. Manage litigation and disputes in coordination with external law firms. Provide internal teams with legal guidance on operational issues. Develop internal policies for legal risk and contract governance. Raise legal awareness among managers and staff. Represent the company before administrative, regulatory, and judicial bodies. This position is based in Douala Education: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Law, Mining Law, Public Law, or International Law. Experience: More than 12 years of experience acquired in a renowned law firm or in a similar in-house position within an industrial company. Expertise: Strong knowledge of contract law, mining law, labor law, fiscal law, corporate law, litigation, infrastructure law, and environmental law. Core Skills: Proven ability to negotiate, secure, and structure complex agreements. Languages: Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken). Application Deadline : January 15th
