As the 7th member of our collaborative and high-performing team, you’ll support our rapidly expanding operations, including 65+ properties across Australasia, and play a key role in the growth of a leading hotel brand.
We’re seeking a tech-savvy, forward-thinking professional who thrives in a culture of continuous improvement. While in-house legal experience is preferred, we welcome private practice lawyers with expertise in property, hotel, corporate, commercial, or litigation law. This role offers the opportunity to learn and grow within a supportive team of experienced lawyers, making a meaningful impact at one of Queensland’s most renowned legal departments. If you’re eager to contribute and progress in your career as we continue to expand rapidly across the region, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing general legal advice, recommendations, and support to key internal departments, including the Hotels (65+ properties), Leadership Team, Executive Committee, Finance Team and Commercial Departments.
  • Undertaking legal work, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of corporate and commercial contracts, sponsorship agreements, software contracts, and hotel agreements.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Hotel Management Agreements (HMAs), property leases, and Franchise Agreements.
  • Supporting the legal team in managing purchase or sale agreements for new and existing hotels.
  • Preparing, renewing, varying and assigning MLR Agreements, Leases, HMAs, and Franchise Agreements.
  • Providing advice and recommendations on General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and privacy legislation.
  • Assisting with disputes and litigation from time to time.
  • Keeping the General Counsel informed about legal or compliance issues.
    Qualifications

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BRING THE SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A completed Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Admission to practice as a solicitor in Queensland (as a minimum) and possession of a current practicing certificate in Australia (or the ability to obtain one before you commence).
  • 2 - 4 years of post-admission experience (either in an in-house setting or in a medium to large private law firm). Candidates with experience in property law, hotel law, corporate law, commercial law, or litigation will be considered favourably.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with executives, managers, staff, external lawyers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and an ability to learn and use new technology.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive and eager attitude to grow your career in an in-house legal team.
  • An ability to travel to the Sunshine Coast on a fortnightly basis for meetings with the Sunshine Coast office.
