QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree and the degree of LL.B or JD are minimum educational requirements.
  • Demonstration of professional skill in legal research, analysis, and writing at the academic level through an advanced degree in law or equivalent research experience.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of the law and legislative process of Alberta.
  • Maintain the professional and educational requirements for membership in the Law Society of Alberta or equivalent, and to reflect the ethical standards of the profession.
  • Successful project management experience and problem solving experience are assets to managing law reform projects.

Responsibilities
  • Legal research, analysis, and policy development to investigate legal problems and policy options.
  • Engage in consultation and communication with the legal profession and the public to further develop policy and recommendations.
  • Write project reports that offer recommendations to Albertans, the government and the legal community.
  • Develop and ensure project plans are well managed.
  • Assist with special projects that promote ALRI work to the broader community of law reform agencies.
