Reports to Senior Counsel, Upstream.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support to the Upstream operating segment, including Potash and Nitrogen production sites on a wide variety of matters, including: procurement of goods and services, mining, and construction and occupational health and safety, pre-litigation resolution of contract disputes, access to information requests, real estate, and environment - in alignment with Nutrien’s business needs
  • Work closely with procurement, operations, and other stakeholders including other segments of the legal department
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice in support of operational segment involving mining and chemical manufacturing to produce agricultural inputs
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts, including supply chain contracts and construction contracts
  • Provide legal support on strategic business objectives and initiatives in the Upstream operating segment
  • Provide legal support to operations on regulatory matters, including safety, health and environmental matters
  • Support real estate transactions in the Upstream operating segment
  • Assist in retaining and managing external counsel as necessary
  • Comply with all Company standards, policies and procedures pertaining to appropriate conduct for employees, including the Statement of Core Values and Code of Business Conduct; the Respect in the Workplace Policy; Safety, Health and Environment Policies; and any other applicable standards, policies and procedures as implemented and/or revised by the Company or by legislation
