POSITION:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Intern (Legal) to join our Intellectual Property (IP) / Rights Protection team. In this role, you will support tasks under the supervision of the IP and Broadcast Rights Manager, focusing on Intellectual Property law, including trademark law, copyright law, and the legal aspects surrounding Olympic and Paralympic Games rights protection. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in a dynamic, high-profile environment related to major sporting events.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong legal research skills with the ability to draft legal opinions and correspondence in both Italian and English.
  • Familiarity with sports sponsorship, marketing, and digital technologies, including software licensing, image rights, and IP rights assignment.
  • Understanding of image rights for athletes and celebrities, particularly in the context of endorsement agreements.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken); French is a plus.
  • Willingness to work at a fast pace, including potential weekend and extended hours.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, prestigious international organizations like the IOC and IPC, as well as sponsors, suppliers, service providers, and media rightsholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the drafting and negotiation of contracts for the executive production of the Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, Torch Relay, and content licensing.
  • Support activities related to Olympic and Paralympic Intellectual Property, including the protection of trademarks and copyrights in both national and international contexts.
  • Help with the enforcement of anti-Ambush Marketing regulations and protection against unfair business practices for major global sporting events.
  • Contribute to trademark prosecution activities, including drafting cease and desist letters and coordinating with the IOC Legal Team on follow-up actions.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on copyright law, particularly related to entertainment, creativity, music, and cinema.
  • Assist in the drafting and implementation of policies and procedures for rights protection, including the Integrity & Enforcement Program for Ticketing and Hospitality.
  • Draft and manage various legal documents (contracts, licenses, releases) related to digital/software industries, education programs, culture, and ambassador partnerships.
  • Support media law activities related to the sale of TV rights (audiovisual rights) for international sporting events and the related television production.
  • Assist with legal documentation such as NDAs, image/performance waivers, and letters of undertaking.
  • Participate in contract management activities, ensuring regular updates to the IOC digital system.
  • Draft contracts and licenses for Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, Torch Relays, and other related programs.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts for the sale of media and broadcast rights for the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
