PAY Pay Range: 870 Hourly Rate: $26.83 - $27.78 The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant. JOB SUMMARY The Part-Time Legal Intern is located within the City of Oklahoma City in the Office of the Municipal Counselor and is under the supervision of the Municipal Counselor. Essential Job Functions Include: attend/provide assistance in Municipal Court cases handled by the Criminal Justice division; answer routine citizen and City staff inquiries which are within the scope of the Municipal Counselor’s Office; research claims against the City and prepare claim files for potential litigation; file court documents as requested by attorneys; assist attorneys in research projects and trial preparation; prepare proclamations and resolutions as requested; and draft legal memoranda, opinions, ordinances and other documents as requested by attorneys. Licensed Part-Time Legal Interns may also be responsible for representing the City in District Court, Municipal criminal prosecution and other litigation as allowed by law. Work is reviewed in progress by a licensed attorney and upon completion, for adherence to directives and soundness of technical judgment. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school. JOB REQUIREMENTS Must be currently attending accredited law school. Demonstrate ability to use online legal research tools. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Skill in dealing with citizens in a tactful and courteous manner. Must possess a valid driver license. OTHER DETAILS Note: This position will work no more than an annual average of 20 hours per week. Pay Method: City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card. Responsibilities
