Job Description: *** HYBRID*** (commit to 2 in-office days a month) The Ryder Summer Internship program will allow students to apply their knowledge to current Ryder projects. Interns will develop a corporate business sense by learning how each department contributes to the overall organization as well as crucial problem-solving, analysis and public speaking skills while attending business meetings and participating in projects. We are currently seeking interns at either a graduate and/or undergraduate level in the following areas: Legal Role Responsibilities: Sustainability/Government Relations/Compliance Assisting with Sustainability projects/reporting Researching legislative issues Researching legal issues Drafting and revising agreements. Attending drafting and negotiation sessions. Responding to subpoenas. Assisting with special projects, including projects to improve operations and reduce legal risk. Requirements Be able to commit for 8 weeks virtually, with potential for in person meetings/activities if you’re local to Miami HQ. Be a resourceful team player that manages ambiguity and is able to adapt to different situations and people At least one (1) year of law school at an accredited law school and must be working towards a degree in law. Preferred Skills and Experience Knowledge or courses are taken in the area of discipline Member of school club(s) Comfortable with public speaking Ability to quickly learn new technologies Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills to support multiple projects. Preference for experience showing leadership capabilities. Ability to display confidence in learning new systems and processes quickly and establishing a strong customer rapport. Team player with positive attitude and exceptional judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Suite Job Category Intern Compensation Information: The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Responsibilities
Interns will assist with Sustainability projects, research legislative and legal issues, and be involved in drafting and revising agreements. Responsibilities also include attending drafting and negotiation sessions, responding to subpoenas, and supporting special projects aimed at improving operations and reducing legal risk.
